Ter Scott, Handwriting Interpreter, shares BIC's Fight for your Write Campaign

Thanks BIC for your “Fight for Your Write” campaign to save handwriting in our schools; and society.

Having been an instructor both at the K – 12 and college level, I am alarmed at the fact that schools are no longer teaching cursive (and with the increase usage of tablets and other technology, less and less printing is done).

In your video you state that handwriting fosters creativity, improves critical thinking skills, boosts self-confidence and makes better readers. As a graphologist, I confirm that the act of handwriting does all of this- and more. Actually, it’s not graphology alone (which is the revealing of personality traits through one’s writing) but by what is called “Grapho-Therapy” which is related to graphology but is the act of changing your handwriting to change your life, as mentioned in my Kindle book: Power of the Pen: Change your Writing, Change you Life . All of the elements in handwriting such as strokes, angle of the strokes, the crossing of the letter “T”, closing the letter “O” completely and so much more tell us how one “is” currently. A person’s crossing of the bar on the letter “T” may be low indicating a low self-esteem. But Grapho-Therapy is the act of consciously practicing writing one’s letter “T” with a higher crossbar so that overtime, they actually improve their self-esteem.

I salute you in your efforts to keep handwriting alive and well in our schools and society and I welcome any opportunity to assist you in supporting your cause.

Make it a great day!
